May the 4th be with you!
I hope everyone is well as we start our 4th week of remote learning. Thank you for all your hard work and attention to cell reproduction and genetics. Today we start looking at evolution, which is my favorite unit. I wish we were in class to look at this together, but I will provide you with lots of information to get across the ideas that are important in evolution.
Evolution is the central idea that brings together and connects all of biology. Everything we study can relate to evolution. We can think of evolution just as change. Please look at what I have left you on Canvas today. Tomorrow during live class we will discuss natural selection, but you should do the work I left you for today to get ready for that discussion. There are many great short video pieces related to evolution, and I will assign you some of the best so that you can get an understanding of these concepts.
I have also assigned you some reading from CK-12, an online book that Wake County supports. You can read these selections by just clicking on the link I provide, or you can join the class I made on CK-12. Instructions are on Canvas. This is a pretty good resource, and there are quizzes at the end of each section. Do the quizzes after you read and you will see how well you understand. I found this to be very helpful and I hope you will too. Join us for class tomorrow at 8:45 am so that we can discuss natural selection. Same google meet code, so message me if you don't know how to get in to class. See you then!
