May the 4th be with you!
It's May and we are starting our 4th week of remote learning. I hope you all are doing well and getting used to a new way of learning. We have accomplished a lot in 3 weeks. We have learned about agriculture and land use and now non-renewable sources of energy.
Right now in order to get ready for the AP exam, we are using live class time to go over and discuss possible FRQ prompts. Please join us for class and participate in trying to answer the questions. Every little bit of practice and discussion will help you put all your ideas together.
I am going to be taking some of the work you have done over the past few weeks and entering grades in Power School. I am still waiting on some grading clarifications for Quarter 4, but please keep doing the work and submitting it to me. You will get credit for the work you are doing.
There is so much happening in our world that has connections to environmental science. It is a strange and interesting time we are living in. Our studies are not focused on viruses right now, but realize that this current virus is having environmental effects all over the world. Because of so many people staying home and working from home, cities have been cleaned up from air pollution. Skies are clear in many places that often have tremendous smog. Canals in Venice are clear and the water looks less polluted. Animals are roaming into places that they usually do not venture for fear of people. Many health and animal welfare groups are talking about how we treat animals and raise them for food, and how these conditions lead to zoonotic diseases and pandemics. We can make so many connections to what you have been studying. Use this strange time to make those connections and further your knowledge and awareness of how all of our actions affect the rest of what happens on earth. We are all connected.
